Scripture: Luke 22 (The Last Supper)

Bottom Line: There is grace and reconciliation at His table.

Other Scripture References:

Group Check in:

  1. How is it with your soul?

  2. Prayer Request? Praises?

  3. How has God shown up in your life this week?

Icebreaker:

  • If you could have one last meal....what would it be?

  • What is an example of a lesson that you learned that you would never forget?

Overview:

  • Failures allow us to have permission to not be perfect

  • Passover is about compassion. Our God was stronger than any other non-gods because He wasn’t just powerful, but He is also compassionate and offers grace. God heard the cry of Israelites and had compassion on them. (Luke 22)

  • Jesus knew the Passover was His last meal and while he knew Judas would betray him, he still ate with him, and next to him.

  • Meal covenant/forgiveness: If you ate with someone it was a sign of reconciliation. Jesus sat at the table with Judas who would betray Him and He ate with Peter who would deny Him. The last meal was a form reconciliation for them, without them even knowing.

  • Power of Memories: Psalm 123 (my cup overflows)

  • Jesus is the bread of life and He lives in you. Because of that, you are valuable and worthy. Nothing keeps you from Jesus. You are more than enough. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

  • So many people think they are not worthy and put themselves in the "Judas seat" at the table, but Jesus reminds us we are worthy! Jesus will keep pursuing you. He will always have a seat for you at His table.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Who did Jesus share a meal with in Luke 22?

  2. Read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. Share an example of a time when God used a difficult situation to humble you?

  3. Can you share an example of a time when God's grace was sufficient for you?

  4. Explain this phrase: "My power is made perfect in weakness."

  5. Have you ever felt hopeless or unworthy in a situation? What can you do to prepare yourself for these difficult times?

  6. How will you remind yourself of what God has done for you in the past and that you can continue to count on His love and grace even in the middle of your struggles? How do you remind yourself that you are worthy of God's love no matter what? (HINT: Remember that Judas sat next to Jesus at His last meal, even though Jesus knew Judas would betray Him the very next day.)
