Overview:
What’s this message about? Over a long period of time we have added pieces of nostalgia to the Christmas story. Join us this week as we recover the Christmas story according to what scripture teaches us and not simply what we learn from Christmas pageants. We believe the story that scripture tells us turns out to be so much warmer and even more inviting. It's a story of powerful provision, unbounded love and incredible grace.
Matthew 1 (Joseph) is a story of a man with deep character. Even though he is going to be given the small town side-eye for the rest of his life, Joseph continues to do what God has asked him to.
Mary's story also has profound faithfulness.
The wise men came a year to a year and half later. By having shephards and wise men part of this story, it showed all were part of it: the weathly and the Gentiles are welcomed. No one was excluded.
The Christmas story is a story of powerful provision. It demostrates unbounded love and incredible grace.
