Message Title: GO: Everything

WEEK 3: GO Series

Scripture: Exodus 3:13-14; 4:1-5 (NRSV)

Bottom Line: What you have is what you need.

Small Group Check in:

  1. How is it with your soul?

  2. Prayer Request? Praises?

Ice Breaker:

  • What is the high and low of your week?

  • How do you handle moments in your life when you feel overwhelmed?

Overview:

  • What you have is what you need.

  • It’s not who you are; it’s Who is with you.

  • You are never alone. Nothing is impossible. Let’s look at Moses perspective: the mission that God wanted to send him on seemed impossible. Moses felt entirely inadequate. But God promised that Moses would not go alone. God said, “I AM with you.”

  • God is the giver of every good and perfect gift… and God is the USER of every good and perfect gift. When God sends you on an “impossible” mission, God will use what is already in your hand.

  • Moses was a shepherd and his staff was his go to tool for his trade. God turned Moses's staff into a snake. This gave Moses encouragement and proof that God was always with him. The strength and power of God would be with him each step of the way. Just like Moses, God uses your tools and your gifts that you already have to reach and help others.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Describe a time you felt incapable or unprepared to accomplish something you knew God was calling you to do. Was your response the same or different from Moses’ response?

  2. How can we respond to God’s call when the need is overwhelming?

  3. Exodus 3:14 says “God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” How can this statement be comforting when being called to serve?

  4. Throughout the Bible, we see that God chooses broken and flawed people like Moses & Isaiah to do mighty things in His name. Does this bring you comfort? Encouragement? If so, why?

  5. Pastor Sean said, “If you have a hammer in your hand, God will use you and your hammer. If you have a stethoscope in your hand, God will use you and your stethoscope. If you have a camera in your hand, God will use you are your camera.…” The Lord does not call you to use something you do not have. The Lord calls you with what you have in your hand. What is in your hand? What gift do you have that can be used to serve the Lord?

  6. Within your small group, each of you has your own unique gift. How can you use your gifts together to serve others?
