Overview:
Jesus reminds us in this simple story on the lake that it is faith that keeps the chaos outside of us from destroying the ultimate peace inside of us.
Life can distract us. We get lured, almost distracted by those calm periods in our life and we begin to feel as though we are in charge of our own destiny – masters of our own ship. It is part ignorance and part arrogance that causes us to get lost in the “so-called” routine of life.
Through the storms of life, we must be our faith in Jesus.
Discussion Questions:
What does this passage teach us about God in relation to the storms we experience?
Read through the passage together and imagine what it would have been like to have been caught in the storm while Jesus was asleep on the boat with you. What would you see, feel, and fear?
What does it mean to have faith?
How do you handle the "storms" in your life?
In this passage (Luke 8:22-25) Jesus asked his Disciples, "Where is your faith?" How would you respond if Jesus came to you right now and asked you the same thing?
When we are overwhelmed and going through difficult times, how can we release faith into our own circumstances? How can we better trust Jesus?
