Message Title: GO: Everywhere

WEEK 2: GO Series

Scripture: Acts 1:1-8 (esp. verse 8)

Bottom Line: God sent Jesus & Jesus sends us out into the world!

Small Group Check in:

  1. How is it with your soul?

  2. Prayer Request? Praises?

Ice Breaker:

  • Who has influenced your life in a positive way? Who has made a helpful difference in your life? Who has made you a better person along the way?

Overview:

  • The opportunity for mission begins everywhere God's people are; the opportunity ends everywhere people can go. We begin in our homes, our neighborhoods, our schools, and our workplaces, but the global Church is called to global needs of the soul, spirit, body, and mind. Christ calls us to love our neighbors, near and far.

  • Christ calls us to live a radical life in which we do things to "give something." To give ourselves to others, to give ourselves to people in need, to give ourselves to people overwhelmed in the wrestling match of life. Not for boasting or gain - but just to give.

  • A saved Christian is propelled by the Holy Spirit into an apostolic ministry of being sent. Being sent one step beyond your comfort zone to make a difference in someone's life for Christ.

  • You are sent when you were saved by God's redeeming love.

Important Quotes from Pastor Mark:

  • "GO is everything that happens outside of these church doors that is done in the name of Jesus.

  • "With God all things are possible. So when God says 'I AM HERE' in your life, the proper response from you should be "here I am, send me Lord." This is how we GO! This is how we go everywhere and reach others"

  • "I was invited to go to others when I was saved from myself. Allow the Holy Spirit to move you...to push you beyond your comfort zone."

Discussion Questions:

  1. In Acts 1:8, Jesus says, "you will be my witnesses." Where do you feel called to be a witness for God?

  2. Does anything hold you back from being a witness? If so, what?

  3. Read Acts 1:3-5 & Luke 24:45-49. What things did Jesus do in these scriptures? What did Jesus ask his followers to do after His resurrection?

  4. What is the mission of God? If you had to explain it in your own words to a friend or to a stranger, how would you explain His mission?

  5. How would you describe your part, your role, in God's plan?

  6. What is an area of your life that you need the power of the Holy Spirit?

  7. How can you and other believers experience the power of the Holy Spirit in areas where you feel stuck?

  8. How is God using you and/or your small group as a witness to others?

This Week's Challenge:

Every morning, pray and ask God to show you someone you can help today.
